The Lambert Family has always loved theatre- especially high school theatre- and their support of Dayton Live’s Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards (MVHSTAs) reflects that love. In memory of Ron Lambert, the Ron Lambert Memorial Scholarship has been created to support advanced training for students who exhibit the same love and affection for the theatre that Ron demonstrated.

The Ron Lambert Memorial Scholarship awards $1,000 scholarships annually to two students who exemplify their love and dedication to live theatre, work tirelessly in their high school theatre program, demonstrate a spirit of collaboration with their peers, and has a deep desire to continue training in the theatre arts in any discipline. One award will be specifically designated for a design or stage management student. The other award will be given based on submitted criteria and can be from any individual award category.

APPLICATION DATES

Applications are accepted Thursday, September 14, 2023-Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

Students may only apply for the year in which they are nominated for MVHSTA recognition. Students may only win this scholarship once and only one application per student, per year.

To qualify, interested MVHSTA students must:

  • Attend one of the participating Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards high schools and participate in their theatre program.
  • Be a graduating senior, or rising senior, in their member high school.
  • Be nominated and recognized for Outstanding or Merit in one nominated MVHSTA category for which they are applying. Applicants do not need to know their official MVHSTA results before applying.
  • Write a 1-page essay or create a 2-minute or less video essay, on why this scholarship would be meaningful for you, and why continuing your training or studies in the theatrical arts is important.
  • Be attending an accredited college or university, or other professional training program after graduating, or during the summer before your senior year of high school.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Winners will be decided by a panel of Dayton Live staff members and Lambert Family representatives.

Winners will officially be announced at the MVHSTA Showcase on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schuster Center. It is the MVHSTAs intention that winners will be notified before the Awards Showcase. It is also the MVHSTAs intention that winners will attend the Showcase at no cost to them because they will be recognized on stage at some point during the evening.

Scholarship funds will be disbursed once relevant documents about training are submitted to the MVHSTA Team.
