As a proud sponsor of the Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards, Wright State University (WSU) is pleased to award two scholarships annually to graduating seniors at the MVHSTA Showcase. Each scholarship will have a total value of $12,000, with an annual award amount of $3,000; scholarships are renewable for four years. It is the intention of the MVHSTAs to award one performance scholarship and one production or design scholarship. Please note, eligible students must also apply to and be accepted by Wright State University School of Fine and Performing Arts.

APPLICATION DATES

Applications are accepted Thursday, September 14, 2023-Monday, April 1, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify and be considered, interested MVHSTA students must:

  • Attend one of the participating Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards high schools and participate in their theatre program.
  • Be a graduating senior in their member high school.
  • Be nominated for a MVHSTA award in any category their senior year (recognition for Outstanding or Merit is not required to qualify).
  • Apply and be accepted into Wright State University, as well as accepted into WSU’s Design/Technology, Musical Theatre, Acting, or Theatre Studies programs. Priority given to students applying for fall 2024 admission by February 1, 2024.
  • Complete The Wright State University MVHSTA Scholarship Eligibility Application on this website in the “Eligibility Application” section below. This eligibility application will be shared with WSU to verify participation in the MVHSTA program. Eligible students must also apply for the MVHSTA Scholarship through Wright State University’s application portal.

Priority consideration will be given to students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Design/Technology at Wright State University. Secondary consideration will be given to those majoring in Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre Studies at Wright State University. Scholarship eligibility is contingent upon acceptance into the University, as well as acceptance into WSU’s Design/Technology, Musical Theatre, Acting, or Theatre Studies programs.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Winners will be selected by a panel from Dayton Live and Wright State University.

Winners will officially be announced at the MVHSTA Showcase on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schuster Center. It is the MVHSTAs intention that winners will be notified before the Awards Showcase. It is also the MVHSTAs intention that winners will attend the Showcase at no cost to them because they will be recognized on stage at some point during the evening.
